The annual luncheon raises funds for the creation of a wax figure of Henrietta Lacks and the Henrietta Lacks Scholarship Endowment at the Community College of Baltimore County. It also offers a venue to share insights on Mrs. Lacks and to honor Turner Station residents, former residents, and friends for contributions made to the legacy of Henrietta Lacks or that of historic Turner Station.
Our goals are to raise $60,000 for a life-size wax figure to be proudly displayed at the Great Blacks in Wax Museum in Baltimore, MD to enlighten residents and visitors of the marvelous physiological contribution of Ms. Lacks and to grow the Henrietta Lacks Scholarship from $30,000 to $60,000 in endowment in order to assist with the higher education of our youth in Baltimore and greater Baltimore area.
At each luncheon the following awards are given:
The Woman of the Year Award recognizes those outstanding women whose generosity, talent, and community service have made and continue to make positive contributions to the lives of children and families in the community of Turner Station.
The Man of the Year Award recognizes those outstanding men whose generosity, talent, and community service have made and continue to make positive contributions to the lives of children and families in the community of Turner Station.
The Business Person of the Year Award recognizes those businesses established in or near the community of Turner Station that employs a significant number of residents and support civic and/or religious activities that enrich the lives of residents.
